I was visiting in this area today so we stopped here for lunch. Small room, nicely appointed in minimalist decor. Table seating with waitstaff service. I took a peek at the sushi before I sat down, to see how it looked. Sushi bar very clean and orderly and the fish appeared to be fresh and firm. They offered us a lunch menu as well as their full dinner and special items. Lunch was as expected a few Bento Box offerings, teriyaki, the usual rolls and soup, won ton, miso or hot and sour. I was going for the specials I chose the Miso and the fire belle roll my companion the pacific roll. I was not a fan of the miso, it did not taste like any I have tasted in the past so that was sent away. I had a better outcome with the fire bell roll. First the presentation, it was spot on, simple and elegant at the same time. I just wanted to gaze at it sitting there on the table Yellowtail, spicy tuna, cucumbers. I was correct about the fish. Sweet firm to the bite with just enough spice in tuna lets the flavor roll through the mouth. The other roll was even more stunning in presentation. Nested in a bowl like plate the tuna based roll was dressed with a nest of fried onions topped of with flying fish eggs. You know those little red orbs that pop in your mouth. I wanted this for myself. Before we left I made a quick trip into the loo in order to wash my hands. It was like going into a small Zen room. I just stood there to take it all in. Crazy no? Service is good the only down side, only one sushi chef was working on what turned into a very busy lunch. We had time to kill so no issue there, but if you have a time constraints there may be an issue.

Best quality sushi in Jax, hands down. Mas takes great pride in his quality, cleanliness, and staff. You won't be disappointed :)

Probably would have given them 5 stars if they had fresh Uni (my favorite). First time here, came on recommendations and not disappointed! Sushi was top notch and service was exceptional. We were waited on by three different people all night. With smiles! No negatives and looking forward to our next visit! We are self proclaimed "sushi snobs" so take our opinion seriously!

I've had sushi Chinese food Japanese food and Thai food from here. The food was good. The only thing I thought that could have used some improvement on was their Thai soup and Thai entrees. They were lacking some of the ingredients you would find in those dishes in a Thai restaurant but you would also probably pay a few dollars more for those same dishes in a Thai restaurant.

We're pleasantly surprised. The ingredients are balanced, the service is great, it is clean, and we're fairly certain they cleaned the vegetables which is rare for a restaurant. We will definitely return.

Good asian food! I don't eat seafood or sushi, but this place is trendy and upbeat. Came here for lunch with coworkers and got the garlic chicken dish. It was excellent, but my only complaint is there wasn't enough chicken in it. I'll be back for more. Seems to be a popular place in the area. Give it a try.

The best Sushi in the entire area, Duval & St Johns County, period. Mas RULES.

This is by far the best sushi restaurant I've ever been to. The owner Mas is personable and friendly to all and no one does it better. Thanks Mas for everything sir

Love Mas and his team! Consistently fresh and delicious! We have been fans since we moved to Florida and it's by far the best sushi we've had in town!

I do not eat Sushi. I went here for Chinese because it is hard to find good Chinese in this area. The Chinese food at this restaraunt was fresh, hot and very good. The flavors were delicious and the veggies were fresh. We will be back. We had Crab rangoons - delicious, Shrimp with veggies, Shrimp with Lobster Sauce - both with huge shrimp that were cooked well and tasted fresh. Great dishes. It is the best that I have found in the greater area. It is hard to find good Chinese, I am a spoiled New Yorker. You must request no MSG if you are allergic which I did. I did not get ill so they must have honored the request. Try it, you will enjoy.

Excellent sushi! They are great at what they do! Both times i have gone ive only got the hot and sour soup and sushi. And they have a gigantic selection of different rolls they must have over 30 different kinds! But they also have your nornal chinese food selections as well, fried rice teriyaki all that but they definately specialize in their sushi

This place is All World. I am a local and though pricey, it is well worth it. Every chance we get, we go. We are sushi snobs I should add.

Hopefully, this was just an off night at Pacific Asian Bistro. We were seated, then ordered an appetizer and our dinner (it was a Friday night). We waited 45 min for our appetizer (spring rolls) and then when our dinner arrived, mine was cold. They were very busy and it was hard to even get someone to come over to complain. We'll try it again, but not on a Friday night.

Had a nice dinner at Pacific Asian Bistro last night. My wife enjoyed a few different Sushi rolls. And I orders a Panang Curry dish. My dish was large, hot, and very good. About $12 bucks for an entree. There is a good selection of different Asian style dishes on the menu... Chinese, Japanese, and Thai. The sushi selection looks great as well. Service was wonderful, and its in a cute little strip shopping center near Palencia. Looking forward to coming back and sapling some other dishes.

My third trip here, and I will say that the sea bass sashimi, which came in a suspicious coating of tobiko, gave me stomach pains all night. Wouldn't have been as bad had not "Mas" and the rest of the staff totally mailed it in while I was there; he actually took off to go out for the night before closing, giving us little recourse but to eat what we had ordered (note: always trust that little voice as it pertains to raw foods).

I have eaten way more than my fair of sushi in my 42 years. This is superior quality, amazing variety and just killer. US1 Roll is the most flavorful specialty roll that has ever graced my lips. The Firestarter roll is very unique and tasty. Will be back. Often.

Slow service, mediocre food (nothing more than NY style) and overpriced.

Mas is by far the Best Sushi master in St Augustine, go for the Salmon, Spicy Tuna and you will return for the specials My Favorites Crazy roll - Not on the Menu King Crab and Spicy Tuna - Not on the Menu Sushi is all about how offer you get deliveries and Mas is getting fresh fish several times a week , the Salmon will melt in your mouth and the tuna is good but not great, as for the other fish it Mas tells we it good then I go for it!

We eat here two to three time a month. Best sushi in St. Augustine by far! He needs to expand and add more seating, it gets really busy on the weekend. Love the Jimmy Smith roll!

Like many here, I used to frequent this establishment a great deal (both lunch and dinner), but a significant degradation in service, food quality and even basic courtesy means that the last time I ate there was the LAST time. A polite comment about inconsistencies in service and quality was met by the so-called manager with insults and a demand to know where I worked... bizarre. Save yourself the aggravation and go elsewhere.

I have been a loyal customer since Pacific Bistro opened, but the service has seriously declined & I must give them a lower rating. They desperately need another sushi chef to keep up with demand, but refuse to hire. The result is painfully slow service. Be prepared to wait for an hour+ to receive even 1 roll. There is no apology either. They just expect everyone to wait. Yes, the sushi is good, but no it's not worth the wait. When you order takeout, you're always told 20-25 min, but you arrive & wait for an hour or more. It's even worse if you dine in the restaurant. They continue with subpar service because there is little competition in the area. Don't waste your time driving up for the insane wait. Seriously, Pacific, hire another chef! It's ridiculous! Until you do so, I will let everyone know how awful the service is.

Finally - we found you! This great sushi place was recommended by a friend who said it was the best sushi - she was right! My husband and I had the crunch roll, dragon roll and dynamite roll. All 3 were excellent. The staff was attentive and the owner greeted us and was very appreciative of our business. Hands down, the best sushi we have had in the Jacksonville/St. Auggie area.

There is a reason PAB is open and it has nothing to do with the quality of the food. Its the fact that is serves the community of Palencia, and Palencia is 10 miles from anywhere in any direction. (Just google map that) The food is sub-par; and really what should you be expecting? You cannot do sushi, Japanese, Chinese, Thai and Korean very well. Focus efforts, folks Last night (the last time I will go) we called in an order to pick-up after a late soccer practice. We arrive on time, wait 15 minutes and have the bag handed to us while the waiter takes off to do something else. We leave, get home and its not even close to the order we made. I go back. They apologize, but just keep talking. 5 minutes later food comes out. I ask them to repeat the order. They do. All confirmed right? Go home, open bag. Wrong food. They got one meal out of three right. But 100% of the food was terrible Too many choices the cook and wait staff get confused Very poor communication skills Rush around like there is fire alarm in their head, but only three people in the place Money cannot fix stupid, which is why PAB will still be open for those of you who settle for bad food and silly-stupid service

Let me preface this review by saying it has been a couple of months since I've dined here but I have been there 4 times. With that being said, each time has been very, very good. I eat a lot of sushi and while I can be happy with local utility sushi when I want really good sushi this is where I go. By far, the best thing I've had there is the tuna poki. It is made with large chucks of red tuna meat bathed in a mild garlic sauce and surrounded by a ring of very thinly sliced avocado. I do not believe it is on the menu but you can ask for it and they will make it. It's not cheap ($14) but it is very worth it. If you are dining in for a nice meal I would suggest you ask for "Mas" who is the owner and tell him you want an "omikase" which is essentially chef's choice. He will ask what type of things you like and don't like and how many courses you are looking for. I would normally not do this in a typical local sushi restaurant but here it is worth it to let the chef create the best dishes with what's freshest. Enjoy.

Enjoyed a great sushi dinner here with two associates. Nice atmosphere, music a little loud. I started with the avocado salad, then we shared multiple appetizers and sushi roles. The roles were presented very nicely, and tasted fantastic.

I had heard many different reviews of Pacific Asian Bistro, from both my friends and here on Yelp. I was skeptical about getting great sushi in St. Augustine, but after hearing my friend rave about it and wanting to meet for lunch, I figured it was time to stop in. First thing I noticed- how cool the place looks. Stepping in, there's not a LOT of tables, but enough for the crowd that seems to frequent the place. Also noticed a few chairs at the sushi bar, as well as tables outside on a patio. The asian decor was impressive, not cheesy, and I was very happy to see the flatscreen TV's tuned to ESPN. The wait staff was very friendly and courteous, and knew their stuff. We stopped in for lunch- and the first thing I noticed was their special. Two rolls and a bowl of soup for only 8 bucks. Something about that tells me the sushi is not that fresh and not very good. Boy, was I wrong about that! I ordered my always favorite spicy tuna and spicy salmon roll along with the miso soup. The miso soup was good, fresh, and set me up nicely for the awesome meal I was about to devour! The rolls were great, very fresh, and very, VERY tasty. I thought about ordering another special when I was done to enjoy more, but I ended up ordering a few orders of my all time favorite sushi, Yellowtail. It was spectacular! The sushi was very fresh, sliced just right, and served on a cool looking plate with wasabi and soy sauce. Could be some of the best sushi I've ever eaten, EVER! Overall, I'm absolutely impressed and can't wait to go back, which I will many, many times. Service was great- fast and correct on all the orders. Food was amazing- fresh, delicious, and filling. The deals are amazing- the lunch special was unbelievably cheap for the food you get, and there are also deals throughout the week on rolls, sushi, sake, and beer. Not into sushi? They also offer up different types of asian cuisine, including your standard Chinese fare. If you're looking for a great restaurant, with great deals and a great atmosphere, offering up LOTS of delicious types of food- look no further than this place. I loved it! All these great reviews can't be wrong!

Wow. This place has gone way downhill and the owner does not see to care. The fried noodles were stale. The sushi was warm, except the eel, that should have been. Food was served cold and then microwaved. They should be ashamed, but they are not. Stay away. This place was once a star, but now is awful.

Great food. Reasonable prices. Everything is fresh. I you want spicy, you will have to ask for it, even on the dishes noted as spicy.

a buddy and I came down to St. Augustine for a golf weekend and we were looking for a decent sushi place. Luckily we found this place! It was really very good. Service was excellent. Our waiter was hilarious, and quick with the food and anything else we needed. Our nigiri sushi was Delicious. The yellowtail was especially good for two reasons: 1.) it was just good, quality, fresh fish, 2.) they put VERY thin strips of chives on top, and the two flavors together were out of this world. Their special rolls were a different story. We had three: salmon salmon, the green river roll, and the Kamikaze roll. The kamikaze roll was delicious (eel roll topped with spicy tuna). The green river roll was odd to me, but if you like rolls with a creamy (mayo-ey) sauce, then you might like it. The salmon salmon roll was actually offensive to my mouth. it was a salmon role with spicy salmon on top (totally great so far!) but it's in a plate filled with this garlic soy sauce. The combination of these flavors really didn't do it for me or my friend. Over all Great sushi, but I'd be weary of ordering some of their special rolls.

Since moving to Jacksonville from CA, I've had a hard time finding decent sushi. Even some of the places that are rated fairly high on Yelp haven't been that great in my opinion. Pacific Asian Bistro has the best sushi I've had so far in the Jax area. Pros: -They use real crab meat (not crab stick or krab) -They have a large selection of standard and special rolls -Although they are in a strip mall, the atmosphere inside is quite nice. Still casual but nice. -Servers and sushi chef very friendly and attentive Cons: -If you are coming from Jacksonville, it is a good 30-45 minute drive (if you are in St. Augustine, this place isn't near the scenic downtown area so it would still be a 5 or 6 mile drive north, and there is nothing around it worth seeing) -One too many rolls have tempura something in it, which isn't what I want when I go out for sushi Bottom Line-if you want to do a day trip out of Jacksonville or even just an evening in St. Augustine, I'd say this place is worth the trip and I'd definitely go again when I'm heading down to that area.

I have lunch here a few times and I keep coming back. Lunch specials and sushi rolls have always been good and portion size is not small at all. Sushi is fresh and I hope to come here to dinner and try everything else.

Just ate at this place for the first time last night. I had the Desiree roll, and it may have been one of the best sushi rolls I've ever had! The Gyoza was also delicious. The service was great and the prices were reasonable, not to mention there were so many great selections on the menus it was hard to choose what to order! I will definitely be going back.

this place has really great sushi & I love their seaweed salad! Also, they do have some rolls that are not on other place's menu- be brave and try something different. I have been three times and have NOT been disappointed...also the service and atmosphere is very good :)

I love Pacific's sushi! I have ordered from their regular menu only once. It is one of the better Asian cuisine restaurants in the area. Their sushi is something I can rave about. I love going for lunch when they have their specials. Chef Mas....I was told had a restaurant in Las Vegas. He learned out to make the best sushi ever and brought his knowledge to NE Florida. If you are a sushi lover....this is the place to be. Service is always great and never slow! Everyone has a smile on their face!

This place is by far superior to any other sushi options available in Saint Augustine, and I'd venture to say Jax as well. Besides the INCREDIBLE sushi, they also offer Japanese, Chinese, and Thai dishes. Chef Mas is very detail oriented, he and his staff work hard and it is evident in the lovely atmosphere and food they provide. Excellent quality, beautiful presentation, and taste to match. I've never had bad service while dining here. Check out their specials on the chalkboard. Ans be sure to stop by for lunch as they have great lunch items (bento box, etc).

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
